UK & European standards

All newly installed intruder alarm systems that require “remote signalling” (connection to an alarm receiving centre over the telephone and / or mobile telephone network) with POLICE response, must use a method of “alarm confirmation” in order to reduce the possibility of false call outs. (As required by British Standard DD 243)

(Alarm confirmation technology allows alarm receiving centres or ARCs to filter out unwanted false alarms, for example due to user error or due to unwanted environmental factors, & verify almost all other alarm activations.)

The three main methods of alarm confirmation are:

Sequential confirmation is currently the most widely preferred, & cost effective method of verifying whether alarm system activation is real, or a potential nuisance alarm. All new Intruder alarm systems with signalling should be designed to meet current standards; PD6662 which is the UK Implementation of European Standard EN50131

Due to the complex nature of standards within the intruder alarm industry our experienced surveyors will advise clients on which specific method of verification is most suitable, & that the security system design meets with the demands of our client’s insurer.

Northern security Ltd Keyholding service is also available to provide 24 hour response if needed. The ability to provide installation, Monitoring, Servicing & response adds significant value to our intruder alarm service, & reinforces our holistic approach to security.

All systems designed & fitted by NSL are installed to the highest standards, & are designed to conform to the NSI (National Security Inspectorate) rigorous guidelines. All our engineers are suitably qualified to the highest standards, security screened, & Police vetted.
