What is Biometrics?
Access control technology has for many years been primarily based around swipe card and proximity token readers, along with traditional PIN coded entry devices. For many applications these systems are more than adequate, & offer an extremely cost effective solution.
Biometric Systems (Finger print Recognition, Retina Scanning, and Voice recognition) overcome many of the drawbacks associated with more traditional systems. Problems such as lost or stolen swipe cards, worn or damaged cards or tokens, Forged cards, and forgotten PIN numbers may now be a thing of the past. System users also need not carry cards or need to remember yet another PIN!
As a result of advances in technology, Biometric Systems are no longer only available for use in High end, High security applications. Affordability, reliability, & user friendly equipment now means that Biometric equipment is part of the main stream Access Control Market.
